Message from the Dean

The Feinstein School of Education is committed to thoughtful, research-informed, high-quality programs led by faculty who bring research, theory and practice into the classroom.

Welcome to the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development. I am so pleased to highlight our mission and programs in the hopes that you will boldly join over 12,000 School of Education alums across the state and region. If you are a current student, alumnus, or a Feinstein community partner, I hope that you find our website engaging with relevant information. I appreciate your interest in our school.  

The Feinstein mission distinguishes our graduates as highly effective, self-reflective educators and human services professionals. Our graduates are further set apart by a deep commitment to diversity, equity and social advocacy – principles that permeate across all our programs. Our faculty and staff value community partnerships and are always looking for ways to connect students with youth and families across communities.  

If you are interested in becoming a classroom teacher, our newly redesigned teacher preparation programs are rigorous, engaging and relevant to today’s learners, with courses in TESOL and special education. If you want to work with youth and adults in community agency settings, we offer degrees in youth development, health promotion and wellness and exercise science.  

At the master's level, we have programs for individuals interested in teaching, mental health counseling, school nurse teacher certification, health education and youth development. We are especially proud of having the only school psychology program in the state.  

If you are an established educator or human service professional, we offer a variety of endorsements and certificates of graduate studies to enhance and expand your professional knowledge and practice. Or, if you are a career changer interested in becoming a classroom teacher, we invite you to explore the RITE program. 

Across all our programs, field placements and internships are a common touchpoint because we recognize and value hands-on learning opportunities. We place students with our partners in K-12, nonprofit agencies and clinical settings, all to ensure the professional readiness of our graduates.
