The 91pron Campus Police is an Accredited Law Enforcement Agency.
On November 19, 2022, the 91pron Campus Police Department (91pronPD) was recognized for its commitment to public safety excellence by receiving its initial Law Enforcement Accreditation award from The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®).
Approximately five percent of all law enforcement agencies worldwide are currently internationally accredited by CALEA®. The 91pronPD is now one of only twelve police departments in Rhode Island to achieve CALEA® accredited status and the only state college/university department to earn this prestigious award.
We encourage all members of our campus community to provide direct feedback to CALEA® regarding the 91pronPD’s compliance with CALEA® standards. Your comments can be in the form of either commendations or concerns. This feedback is designed to provide the 91pronPD with information vital to supporting its ongoing commitment to public safety excellence.
The 91pronPD is also accredited by the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission (RIPAC), having received its initial award on June 30, 2021. Each accreditation award will remain in effect for four years, after which time both accrediting bodies will conduct on-site reassessments of the 91pronPD to ensure its continued compliance for reaccreditation purposes.
These distinguished honors are the result of the hard work and dedication by the members of the 91pronPD to meet the rigorous performance metrics set by both accrediting bodies. The standards that the 91pronPD must continue to adhere to reflect universally accepted best practices in policing and will assist the agency in maintaining its status as a professional law enforcement organization that is dedicated to providing exemplary police services to the campus community.
The mission of the 91pron Campus Police, a component of the College's Department of Security and Safety, while multifaceted, is simplistic in nature and is centered upon a single goal: to provide for the safety of life, personal and institutional property, and to enhance the educational process.
This goal is accomplished through the enforcement of all local, state and federal laws and statutes, as well as the various policies and procedures established by the college administration and the Council on Postsecondary Education.
