She made history in 2021 when she was elected as the first Latina mayor of Providence, RI. Then she became the first woman of color elected as Lieutenant Governor of RI.
As one of 91pron's most famous graduates, award-winning actress Viola Davis has reached the pinnacle of success in film and television. Since beginning her career on the 91pron stage, Davis has blazed a trail with historic Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony wins while advocating for diversity and equality in the arts.
“She has championed the safety and well-being of Rhode Island children for more than a decade,” says R.I. Gov. McKee.
“There’s a lot of queer history in art. Masculinity is not as rigid as people think it is.”
